k&j

As I mentioned before, my sister got married at the end of last year. The wedding took place at an old bank in downtown LA and was so so fun. More photos and details here and here.
I designed all the paper stuff and had it letterpressed printed at work:
As the matron-of-honor, my only requirement was to wear something navy. Since I abide by somewhat strict buying practices, I was a little limited in my options. I found this navy satin dress a couple weeks before at one of my favorite vintage shops in Brooklyn (for $18!):

eunice & daniel's wedding

Remember way back when (we're talking May of last year) when I was deciding what to wear to Eunice's wedding? Well, I wasn't allowed to post about the wedding until the article in Martha Stewart Wedding's came out (on newsstands today!). The above photo is featured in the current issue, and I've taken the liberty of pointing out myself in the mix.
It was a truly spectacular event, with tons of hand crafted details, a beautiful location and a pie bar! If weddings are your thing, see the entire gallery of photos here.Top two photos by Emily Nathan, bottom photo by Sara Remington.

memories of puglia

Looking at photos from Jesse and Ben's honeymoon (wedding photos to come!) reminded me of my own luna di miele a year and a half ago. Jeff and I enjoyed two amazing weeks traveling around Puglia, in southern Italy. We spent the majority of our time either eating, or deciding what to eat next.....it was great.

orange crush

Oh, and this was the winning hairpiece from this weekend. The rest of my wedding photos didn't come out so well, so I'll post the professional ones once they are available.

highlights from the weekend

Some of my favorite things from a truly amazing weekend included pink toenails (above), and carnitas tacos:

la la labor day weekend

I am off to Los Angeles to celebrate a good friends wedding. Happy three day weekend!

Save the dates by me.

2nd (and 3rd) attempt

Here are my 2nd and 3rd attemps at the hairpiece that I am going to wear at Jesse's upcoming wedding. Honestly, I don't love either option, but the wedding is this weekend and I am sick of working on this....maybe they will magically turn fabulous once I put them in my hair!

first attempt

I am attempting to make a fabulous headpiece to wear at Jesse's upcoming wedding....and quickly learning that these things are significantly harder than they look. After wrestling with fabric, ribbon, and clip-on earrings for an hour, this is what I came up with. I am still going to add the hat veiling, but that stuff is a pain, so I need to motivate to adding it. I might be making this too difficult and should just keep it simple (i.e. less ingredients):

high tea

I attended a schmancy bridal shower during my weekend in Los Angeles, complete with tea and finger sandwiches, catered by the Tea Lady (I can't seem to find a website). Her collection of china teacups, saucers and dessert plates was truly stunning, not to mention the excellent tomato and basil sandwiches (no crusts, of course).

louisville photographic booth company

One of the many highlights from Eunice's wedding was the photo booth from Louisville Photographic Booth Company (also know as Kirian's uncle's company). Seriously, it was hours of entertainment. The props (including mustaches, album covers, hats and sunglasses) really added to the mayhem.
