Loving these California inspired posters from my friends over at Lab Partners. Check out their newly re-designed site - it looks amazing!

newtown creek nature walk

The Newtown Creek Nature Walk was designed by George Trakas and built by various NYC governmental departments as part of an "upgrade" to the nearby water treatment plant. It's definitely random and there really isn't a lot of nature happening. This article (with unintentionally identical image) kinda sums it up. It was, however, a really beautiful day to go for a walk....

fashion week

(view from my seat)
Going to a big time fashion show has been a dream of mine for a long time. I may be strict about what I buy, but don't get me wrong - I love fashion. When a buyer friend mentioned that she had an extra ticket for the Anna Sui show I probably squealed with delight.
The show was everything I wanted it to be and more - crowded, glamourous, loud and colorful. The people watching was beyond amazing...just across from me was Karen Elson, Russell Simmons and Coco Rocha. I saw Bill Cunningham as we exited the show.
And the clothes! I was actually too busy trying to shoot everything (those girls walk fast!) to really study the collection, but there were some really beautiful pieces. To see the full fall collection, click here.
Since you are probably going to ask, I wore a green silk dress (80's most likely) from Shareen's, an old coat from Banana Republic, and my vintage Gucci purse...
....and the swag included blush, perfume and socks:
CAG - thanks again for taking me!

jane's carousel

Jane's Carousel opened this summer in Brooklyn Bridge Park. Built in 1922, the carousel was originally installed at Idora Park in Youngstown, Ohio. In the early 80's a local couple purchased the carousel and began the long process of restoration in their Dumbo studio. Twenty-seven years later, the carousel is open to the public, housed in a Jean Nouvel pavilion and overlooking the Manhattan skyline.

On the same block in Nolita is an indoor park as well as a musical facade. NYC, you sure are special.

recent thrift store treasures

Recent non-new finds include a butterfly necklace (above), boring yet practical camel sweater (below):
Oscar de la Renta plaid skirt:
and a brass shell to add to my growing small-things-made-of-brass collection:

"murder"

The ICP might be one of my favorite museums in the city - everything I've seen there has been fantastic. Currently they are showing a retrospective of the work of Weegee, a police and crime photographer from the 30's and 40's. It's both gruesome and riveting at the same time.
