photos from yesterday

It was so nice yesterday that I decided to take a long walk around the neighborhood.

color and pattern

Our last trip to the Met was too brief, so I went back this weekend and couldn't stop marveling at the colors and patterns in the newish galleries for Islamic art.

jane's carousel

Jane's Carousel opened this summer in Brooklyn Bridge Park. Built in 1922, the carousel was originally installed at Idora Park in Youngstown, Ohio. In the early 80's a local couple purchased the carousel and began the long process of restoration in their Dumbo studio. Twenty-seven years later, the carousel is open to the public, housed in a Jean Nouvel pavilion and overlooking the Manhattan skyline.

rainbow city

Miami based design firm Friends With You created a temporary installation, Rainbow City, at the current north end of the High Line at the lot. Even on a rainy day it was very bright and fun.

new apt, same dilemma

In my LA apartment, I struggled with what color rug to get, and 3000 miles away, I'm doing the same thing all over again. Its the same furniture for the most part and the same color palate - moss green and wood, with orange, yellow and brass accents. I picked up four samples from my current favorite local furniture shop to try out - a diamond pattern in both powder blue (above) and brown (below):
A grey scroll:
...and a darker grey moroccan-inspired shape:

The colors didn't photograph accurately in the living room (kinda dark in there) so I reshot them in natural light. Please note the helpful numbering system so you can tell me which one (if any) you like the best.
Thanks!

economy candy

As part of my preparations for last weeks show, I went to Economy Candy to get some color coordinated treats for our booth. Never have I exercised such self-control.

a pop of color

I shot this at the Highline at dusk the other day. I don't normally pat myself on the back quite so much, but I think the colors just look amazing.
It would make a lovely drawing, don't you think?
