Last weekend, we celebrated my belated birth-date, now an annual tradition. Our packed day included a visit to the Neue Galerie, the Merchants House Museum (above), and the Skyscraper Museum. In between visits, we stopped for a lovely meat and cheese filled lunch at Il Buco Alimentari. The day concluded with dinner and mini-golf at Brooklyn Crab, my favorite stop of the day - if you haven't been, it's awesome. For more photos, check out my instagram feed (I'm @shoshauna).

one thousandth post
This is my one thousandth blog post. How did that happen? I started this blog because I was jealous of Jeff's. Initially, I just wanted a place to show my mom what projects I was working on, but its become so much more than that. It has been four years, three cities, vacations, travels, and countless urban adventures. Some posts have been better than others, for sure, but I'm glad I started blogging. I like being able to see what I've done, and where I've been.
It seems like I should do something to commemorate the occassion, so let's do another giveaway. This time its going to be an 8"x10" print of any of my photos. Leave a comment on this post saying hi, you are awesome, your blog is lame, whatever. I'll pick a winner at random and then you can let me know which image is your favorite.
I've included a couple of my favorite photos here, but you can pick anything from any blog post or from my flickr site (although don't pick one of me, that's creepy).
There are a lot of choices! Let's say the giveaway is open for a week. Email me if you have any questions and thanks for reading!

bronx zoo
Since Jeff already got his birthday wish, the rest of the birthday celebration was pretty much in the bag. We spent a cold and snowy day at the Bronx Zoo, where we practically had the whole place to ourselves - apparently not many New Yorkers are eager to be outdoors during inclement weather. They really missed out, as it was pretty spectacular to see a polar bear in the snow.

tis the season
New York apartments are notoriously small and mine is no exception. There might be room for two bikes and our booze collection, but sadly, there isn't room for a Christmas tree. No matter! A little tape and a couple holiday cards, and voila! My very own space saving Christmas tree. You'll notice I've only received three holiday cards this year - I guess that's what happens when you move twice in two years. If you send me a card, I'll add it to my tree!

the brooklyn christmas tree
Your eyes do not deceive you - this is indeed a christmas tree made from PBR cans, metro cards and tennis shoes.

nyc marathon
The NYC marathon route was only a few blocks from our house and it was crazy! Besides the thousands of runners, it was so cool to see how many people came out to support them. I also appreciated that Williamsburg hosted both a rock band and a non-marching marching band.

halloween fail
I was really looking forward to my first New York Halloween - we had a party to go to, I had a costume that I actually liked, things were happening. But the party turned out to be a different night than we thought and there was that freak snowstorm. Then last night rolled around and I just wasn't feeling it - no where to go, allergies ablaze and no motivation. So, here is the costume I would have worn had the pieces fallen into place: Rose Garden, complete with tissue paper flowers (above) and a bird bath hat (below).

Inspired by a friends idea, I commissioned my favorite artist to draw a portrait of Jeff and I for our ten year anniversary of being together.

hawaii anniversary
Jeff and I were lucky enough to be in Hawaii to celebrate our fourth anniversary. We took a little break from the family to have lunch at the Dolphin restaurant:
Followed by cocktails and a view at the St. Regis Princeville:We completed the afternoon with shaved ice (served with ice cream on the bottom - delicious!):
Thanks to Uncle Bob for the drawing! All photos by me.
