The City Reliquary is mere blocks from my apartment which is pretty pathetic considering my first visit was two years after moving in. In any event, it's essentially a collection of New York themed tchotchkes, which couldn't be more up my alley. So many treasures!

flushing meadows
Much like visiting Coney Island, going to Flushing Meadows was one of my long time New York dreams (please note this is different from Flushing). Jeff appeased me this weekend by taking our bikes out to Queens to visit the site of two World's Fairs. There's been a lot written about Flushing Meadows (this is the post that sold me), so I won't get into the history and details. I will say that it was one hundred percent worth the schlep - totally fascinating!

floral wallpaper
Inspired by this pin, I used my leftover halloween costume to make floral(ish) wallpaper. It didn't come out nearly as good as my book wallpaper, but it adds an interesting element to my otherwise bland and random office.
Sorry for the crap photos! There's no window in this room which makes shooting anything look terrible.

the troll museum
Did you know that there is a Troll Museum in New York City? Reverend Jen started the museum in 2000 and to say its been a labor of love seems like an understatement. I did come away from the experience with a much increased knowledge and appreciation of trolls. If you'd like to learn more about the museum, or just to hear a truly awesome theme song, please watch this video.

season-ing
Kind of a random post, but I seasonalized my closet this week and I couldn't be more pleased with the decision. Look! You can see the floor! I can actually get things out! This whole "living with seasons" thing has turned into a real learning process.

mustaches
I'm so pleased to see that the timeless tradition of drawing mustaches on people is alive and well in New York City.

greenwood
Greenwood Cemetery was founded in 1838 and was a huge tourist attraction in the 1860's (this was before the creation of public parks, so it was one of the few landscaped green spaces New Yorkers could visit. Apparently, there were carriage rides and other attractions). Today, you can visit the rolling hills and get a free glimpse at some pretty amazing architectural monuments. Some may find it creepy, but I thought it was fascinating.

a return to governors island
Since we had such a good time last on our last visit, Jeff and I took another trip to Governors Island.
The island closes on the 25th - if you live in New York and haven't gone yet, it's really great.
