the great googa mooga

Jeff and I spent yesterday at the first annual Googa Mooga festival of music, food and wine (it's the same producer as Outside Lands). Although the festival was a bit disorganized, we both enjoyed performances by Hall & Oates (above), a Q&A with Anthony Bourdain, bacon wrapped hot dogs and lots and lots of wine.

gilt taste

Who is that handsome man? Why, it's my lovely husband and he is on the front page of Gilt Taste for their "Sommelier Series" in which he selects five wines and tells you why you should buy them*. Speaking of Gilt Taste, they actually have some pretty good recipes and articles on there, like how to make a better pb & j, and shrimp tempura tacos.

Took a sunset cruise on the Staten Island Ferry to get some killer Italian food.

office, etc

My office was feeling a bit depressing (probably because it's the only room in the apartment without a window) so I decided to liven things up with the leftover paper link chains from the trade show. Much better!
I also hung my Lab Partners calendar and Kiosk whistle.
I should note that the office also serves as wine storage:
 As well as bike storage:
All this in an 8 by 10 foot space - that's urban living for you!

travel envy: sicily

My husband has been eating, drinking and "working" in southern Italy for nearly two weeks now. I'm seething with jealousy!

outside lands

Jeff was given media passes to Outside Lands to write about their food and wine offerings. He took me along as his photographer (sweet!). My highlights for the day including Calexico:

Lucinda Williams:

Robert Randolph & the Family Band (sorry - I couldn't get much closer):

...and this catfish PoBoy.

Hungry? Read Jeff's review of the culinary offerings here.
