valentine's crafting extravaganza

We hosted a classroom of second graders from Flynn Elementary at work yesterday for a valentine's card making workshop based on the Fuzzy Octopus card from Handmade Hellos. The kids were hilarious! Here are some of their creations:

valentine's day cards

There are so many fantastic Valentine's Day cards out there. Here are a couple of my favorites:

From Yee Haw Industries.

From Hammerpress.

From Egg Press.

From Linda & Harriett.

From Sidepony.

From Par Amour Designs.

Better get one soon...V-day is just around the corner!

more headgear

Another project and another awkward bathroom mirror self-portrait! This hat was pretty easy - I especially like how the lace pattern turned out.

P.S. This is a free pattern on Ravelry if you want to make it. It's called Spring Beret.

headband for a saturday afternoon

I am still home sick (it's getting ridiculous...germs - be gone!) and getting really bored of watching hulu (although the last episode of 30 Rock was hi-larious). I had bought a bunch of quilting pieces (yo-yo's?) at the flea market and decided to put them to use. With some ribbon I had around the house, and a little sewing, I had myself a pretty adorable (if I do say so) new headband:

Forgive the awkward self-portrait and the fleece (I'm sick!). However, I'm pretty pleased with how it came out - just call me Jennifer Behr!

from my home: paper

Since I am still unable to leave my apartment, I figured why not feature items I already own? It should come as no surprise that I love paper. It is my job, after all. Throughout the years, I have had a serious weakness for collecting vintage paper products. Some of my favorites include these Oakland postcards (above) and sweet notesets (below).

Apparently, I also have a affinity for airmail envelopes, as well as quirky invitations (Friendly Get Together is my favorite).

home sick

Apologies for the lack of posts but I have been seriously ill the last few days. Ugh.

Jeff is in Argentina, that lucky bastard. Read about his adventures here.

from the flea: treaures

This month's treasures included an embroidered white shirt (above) and patterned silk scarf (below).

I also got another bird patterned Pyrex bowl to add to my collection.

from the flea: what I saw

It was a truly stunning day at the Alameda flea market (yea for California!) - perfect for treasure hunting. I'm on a semi-strict "no dishes" policy since my kitchen is more than adequately stocked (one of the many benefits of married life), but I really loved this orange set (above) as well as the strawberry one (below).
