nss
I'm back home from two full days walking the National Stationery Show (we didn't have a booth this year), which feels just as exhausting as being a vendor. I took over 250 photos, so stay tuned for what I saw and liked.

boobs
Those crazy kids over at Egg Press just came out with this good luck card in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month. They even came up with a list of suggested recipients (number 6 is my favorite):
Top ten occasions to send a Good Luck with Your Boobs card
1. breast cancer
2. suspicious breast lump
3. birth of a child / nursing mom
4. breast augmentation
5. breast reduction
6. pre-puberty
7. birthday / aging
8. wearing a strapless gown
9. running a marathon
10. European beach vacation

good show: best of
In general, the show was a bit underwhelming, but there were definitely some treasures in the mix, like the Blue State and Tim Gunn cards from La Familia Green, as well as these beets from Pie Bird Press.

good show
The show ended yesterday and to be honest, I'm relieved its over. Although I love seeing friends and all the amazing inspiring design work, it felt a lot more exhausting this year than in previous years. I just wrote a post about our booth for work if you are interested.

national stationery show
The National Stationery Show starts today! I'll be in booth 1536 representing H!L as usual. I'm especially looking forward to seeing friends, and checking out what new products people have. I'm also determined to visit ICFF this year - I never seem to be able to make it all the way downstairs!

nyc: best of nss
My most favoritest things I saw at NSS last week included cards from Blue Barnhouse (above and below).
An absolutely gorgeous recipe box from Rifle Paper Co:
Dorky typeface cards from A. Favorite:
Fabric wrap (a traditional Japanese wrapping cloth) from Chewing the Cud:
Canning print from Old School Stationers:
...and animals from Enormous Champion:
Want to know more about NSS? I'll be blogging about the show at H!L all week.

nyc: from the show
For me, the National Stationery show is a week of little sleep, aesthetic awesome-ness, many, many inspiring friends and design crushes, manual labor, poor eating and drinking habits, and a general good time. It also helps to have a fantastic booth-mate who's just about as particular as you are.

holiday cards

Earlier this year I designed a bunch of custom holiday cards for work. I think they came out pretty cute, if I do say so.

stationery

A couple years ago I attended the release of a new line of stationery from renowned calligrapher Bernard Maisner. Being the stationery dork that I am, I waited in line for him to write my name in his signature style. And having access to a scanner, Adobe Illustrator and expert letterpress printers, I now own signature Maisner stationery all my own.

Thanks to James for printing these!

national stationery show

I'm a bit sad about missing this years National Stationery Show due to financial cutbacks at work. I always look forward to being in New York and seeing all my wonderful stationery friends.
