williamsburg bridge (and a winner!)
The Williamsburg Bridge may not be as famous (or as picturesque) as the Brooklyn Bridge, but it's still a nice place for a walk as the sun goes down.

baby blanket
Just finished this blanket for a baby known in utero as "peanit"*.
*Apparently, that's how "peanut" sounds when you are from Vermont.

museum at eldridge street
image from here
We were supposed to got to the Mets-Giants game yesterday but it rained. And rained. On a whim, I picked a museum off my list (my new goal is to visit all the museums in New York) - the Museum at Eldridge Street. It's more synagogue than museum (personally, I think they call it a "museum" to get more visitors), since they still hold weekly services. The building dates from 1887 and recently underwent a twenty-year $20 million restoration. It's really very beautiful - definitely worth visiting if you find yourself in Chinatown with some time to kill.

one thousandth post
This is my one thousandth blog post. How did that happen? I started this blog because I was jealous of Jeff's. Initially, I just wanted a place to show my mom what projects I was working on, but its become so much more than that. It has been four years, three cities, vacations, travels, and countless urban adventures. Some posts have been better than others, for sure, but I'm glad I started blogging. I like being able to see what I've done, and where I've been.
It seems like I should do something to commemorate the occassion, so let's do another giveaway. This time its going to be an 8"x10" print of any of my photos. Leave a comment on this post saying hi, you are awesome, your blog is lame, whatever. I'll pick a winner at random and then you can let me know which image is your favorite.
I've included a couple of my favorite photos here, but you can pick anything from any blog post or from my flickr site (although don't pick one of me, that's creepy).
There are a lot of choices! Let's say the giveaway is open for a week. Email me if you have any questions and thanks for reading!

recent thrift store treasures
I'd been looking for a marquetry wood painting for years - they were either vastly out of my price range or the subject matter wasn't to my liking (lots of churches), so I was pretty excited when I found this one for twenty bucks at a thrift shop in Manhattan. My other recent finds included an orange blouse from the Brooklyn Flea...
