what she wore
Check out my friend Heather's dress! She made it using a vintage pattern and fabric, both purchased from a thrift store near her Phoenix home. Adorable, right?!
She also thrifted her fantastic lucite heels!

summer activity list
There are a number of things I am determined to do/eat/see/explore this summer. In no particular order:
1. Visit more museums, such as the Getty Center (above, photo from here), Museum of Jurassic Technology, and the Architecture and Design Museum.
2. Spend more time outside. Reading on the beach seems like a good way to achieve this. (2a. Don't get sunburned).
2b. Eat outside more. Backyards and outdoor cafes will suffice.
3. Visit the Gamble House.
4. Try some of the food trucks around LA, like Kogi and Coolhaus (photo from here).
5. See movies at the Silent Movie Theater and the Hollywood Forever Cemetery.
6. Explore Griffith Park and Observatory.
There's only a day and a half left to enter the 528th post giveaway! Just tell me something you like, dislike or want to see more or less of, or just something random! Giveaway ends Friday - click here for details.

gifts from my grandparents
My grandmother recently gave me this beautiful pot and plant (thanks Grandma!). It reminded me that all my most favorite things in my apartment were gifts or hand-me-downs from one of my grandparents....like this brass bar cart, once belonging to my great-grandmother.
Or this vase, one of two given to my grandparents as a wedding gift (my sister has the other one).
And this coffee table and rug, found in near perfect condition in my grandfathers garage.
Oh! And this orange serving tray, which is awesome in its groovy-ness.

Now that I live in the land of sunshine, I'm thinking I might need to expand my sunglasses collection....also, Jeff told me that these were one of the ugliest pairs he had ever seen! Geez....are any of these better? Above pair from here.

recent thrift store treasures
Some new finds from Goodwill include pointy silver flats and pleated turquoise shorts (pre-hemming)...
...and flower-y piped t-shirt. Is it weird that I inadvertently bought a complete outfit?

528th post giveaway!
HEY - It's my 528th* post and I'm celebrating by having a giveaway. The object of your affection is Evergreen, a knit shawl/scarf made by yours truly, just in time for summer (ha ha)! The shawl is made from an organic soy, cotton and bamboo fiber blend (Linea Pura by Lana Grossa for those who are interested). It's a grayish/silver-y color (not metallic) and can be worn with the point in the front or the back - I prefer the front, personally.
How do you win, you ask? It's easy! Just leave a comment on this post with something you like about this blog, something you want to see more or less of, or just something random! Be sure to include your email so I can contact you. The giveaway is open until noon on June 25th, at which I'll pick a winner at random. It's open to everyone - tell your friends!
Thanks and good luck!
Want to make your own? Search Evergreen on Ravelry.
*originally I was going to do this for my 500th post, but I didn't finish in time!

shower gifts
A baby shower gift for a good friend includes a onesie/bib/burp cloth set from The Fresh Stitch (that onesie has a tie on it! That's so cute!). I added a pair of knitted booties to match. I hope she likes it!
